Why is Range Rover insurance so expensive?
Theft. Organised keyless theft made Range Rovers the UK's most-stolen high-value cars in 2022–23, and premiums — especially urban — priced it in. Security updates and trackers have improved the picture substantially, but the loading hasn't fully unwound. Groups 40–50 do the rest.
Do I need a tracker to insure a Land Rover?
For current Range Rover and Range Rover Sport models, many insurers require a Thatcham S5 tracker; for Defender, Discovery and Evoque a tracker is usually optional but discounted. Fit one regardless — recovery rates with S5 trackers are dramatically better.
Which Land Rover is cheapest to insure?
